If you are planning to study in Czech Republic in 2026–27, the application window for most universities runs from November 2025 to April 2026. Czech Republic has no central application system — each university, and in some cases each faculty, sets its own deadline. This guide gives you the confirmed dates for the universities most popular with students from Singapore, Malaysia, and SE Asia, plus a full timeline to plan your application around.

Two intakes — and which one to target

Czech universities offer two entry points each year.

  • Fall intake (main): Academic year starts October 2026. Application deadline: February–April 2026. This is the right choice for most students.

  • Spring intake (smaller): Semester starts February 2027. Application deadline: September–October 2026. Not all programmes offer this option.

The fall intake is bigger in every way — more programmes, more dormitory places, and a longer first year before summer. For a student arriving from Singapore or SE Asia for the first time, starting in October gives you eight months of study before your first summer break, which is enough time to settle in properly.

Application deadlines by university

Charles University Prague

Charles University is Czech Republic's oldest and most internationally recognised university. It has 17 independent faculties, each with its own admissions office and its own deadline.

  • Medicine programmes (English-taught): November 30 deadline — one of the earliest medical school deadlines in Europe

  • First Faculty of Medicine: April 30, 2026

  • Most other faculties: February–April 2026

Charles University has no central admissions office. You apply directly through the faculty you want to study at — not through a single university portal. Before you do anything else, identify your specific faculty and check its admissions page for the exact closing date.

Czech Technical University Prague (CTU)

CTU is the country's top engineering and technology university, with strong programmes in civil engineering, electrical engineering, architecture, and information technology.

  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering: March 31, 2026

  • Other faculties: Deadlines set independently — check each faculty's admissions page

  • Educational credential assessment: Submissions accepted until August 21, 2026

International students at CTU must have their foreign educational credentials formally assessed before enrolling. This assessment is a separate process from the main application and takes several weeks. Start it early.

Masaryk University Brno

Masaryk University is the second-largest university in Czech Republic and is based in Brno, not Prague. Living costs in Brno are noticeably lower than in Prague — typically €100–€150 less per month.

  • Most English-taught programmes, Fall intake: February 28, 2026

  • Faculty of Informatics English programmes: April 15, 2026

  • Spring intake (where available): September 30, 2026

Masaryk has a well-organised admissions process for international students, with a single portal covering most faculties and clear guidance in English.

Prague City University

Prague City University offers English-taught degrees in business, communication, and design. As a private university, tuition fees are higher than at public institutions, but the application process is more straightforward and does not typically include entrance examinations. Contact Prague City University's admissions team directly for current 2026–27 deadlines, as these are set on a rolling basis.

The full application timeline

Here is the complete timeline for fall 2026 entry, from research to arrival.

  • September–October 2025: Research programmes and universities. Shortlist 3–5 options across your target field.

  • November–December 2025: Applications open at most universities. Create accounts and begin gathering documents.

  • November 30, 2025: Deadline passed for Charles University medicine programmes.

  • February 2026: Deadline for Masaryk University most programmes. Submit applications to all target universities.

  • March–April 2026: Deadline window for CTU and most Charles University faculties.

  • May–June 2026: Entrance examinations at most universities, held by written invitation only.

  • June 2026: Admission results issued. Successful applicants receive offers.

  • July–August 2026: Apply for Czech student visa. Allow 60–90 days for processing from your nearest Czech embassy.

  • October 2026: Academic year begins.

If you are reading this in June 2026, the main Fall 2026 application window has closed at most universities. Your options are the Spring 2027 intake (where available) or Fall 2027 — for which you should begin your research now.

Documents you need before you apply

Most Czech universities require the same core set of documents. Prepare these before the deadline, not after.

  • Secondary school leaving certificate — certified English or Czech translation required

  • Official academic transcript

  • Proof of English language proficiency — IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge Certificate (requirements vary by programme)

  • Completed online application form

  • Application fee — typically €20 to €50, paid online

  • Passport copy

For Czech-taught programmes, you will also need to provide evidence of Czech language ability. English-taught programmes do not require this.

Entrance examinations — what to expect

Most Czech public universities require applicants to pass an entrance examination before receiving an offer. This is different from the British personal statement process or the American common application — it is a formal written or oral test on subjects relevant to your programme.

  • Examinations are held in May or June, by written invitation only

  • Medical programmes have the most demanding tests — typically biology, chemistry, and sometimes physics

  • Engineering programmes at CTU test mathematics and physics

  • Business and social science programmes may assess analytical reasoning or language proficiency

Admission decisions are sent out by late June in most cases. If you receive an offer, you then have a short window to confirm your place and begin your visa application.
